Quan’s Kitchen @ Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown introduces three brand new family feast set to choose from: Bak Kwa Crusted Mandarin Chicken (RM158), Deep Fried Whole Seabass with Spicy Cantonese Black Bean Sauce (RM168) and Char Siew Dorper Lamb Rack (RM178). Each set is suitable for 3 – 4 pax.

Special thanks to the team for sending us the Bak Kwa Crusted Mandarin Chicken and Char Siew Dorper Lamb Rack to enjoy!

The Char Siew Dorper Lamb Rack comes with 6 rib pieces, pineapple fried rice, poached kai lan, Cameron Highlands spring mix salad and blueberry cheesecake with berry jam.

The lamb rack was perfectly cooked with a slight char on the surface for added flavor while the inside was cooked to medium-well, thus retaining a lot of the wonderful juices. Each rib had a generous amount of meat which was great! For those who prefers a little more added flavor, the Char Siew sauce will definitely spice up your experience. The Char Siew sauce isn’t overly viscous neither is it overly sweet making it a great sauce to drench over your lamb rack or even pineapple fried rice should you prefer. As for us, we enjoyed the lamb rack on its own because it was THAT GOOD!

Not diving too deep into the other side dishes, we do want to also quickly mention that we truly enjoyed the pineapple fried rice and blueberry cheesecake as well! We’re certain that even Uncle Roger would approve of the fried rice 😉

As for the Bak Kwa Crusted Mandarin Chicken, it comes complete with a whole chicken with 2 sauces, wok fried medley vegetables, Cameron Highlands spring mix salad and blueberry cheesecake with berry jam.

How was the chicken? Mind-blowingly good! It’s unlike any other roast chicken we’ve tried before. The chicken is laced with a layer of Bak Kwa (dried meat similar to jerky) beneath the layer of chicken skin thus giving it smokey flavor. Perhaps also due to this method of preparation, the flavors run deep. Ensuring that every bite is bursting with wonderful flavors.

Chicken aside, the golden tangy apricot sauce paired with the chicken really well! The sweetness and tanginess of the sauce complements the smokey flavors of the chicken perfectly. It was definitely our preferred pairing sauce of the 2 options.

Some photos of the side dishes that comes as a set.

All-in-all, we truly enjoyed both sets. But if we had to choose between the two, we’d definitely agree that the Bak Kwa Chicken won our hearts and our appetite. While both sets take on an Asian twist in flavours, we do think that they both fit in really well for the upcoming Christmas festivities. Why go for turkey when a Bak Kwa Chicken taste that much better right?

For those who are interested, simply place your order via whatsapp / call +60 12 507 3327 or if preferred, sets are also available for dine-in customers.
