The Butcher’s Table @Pavillion

Updated: Jun 28, 2021

The Butcher’s Table finally opened its flagship restaurant in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur! From its humble beginnings of serving porky delights from a small but cosy shop lot in SS2, this new outlet now has the capacity to cater to even more meat lovers directly from the heart of Kuala Lumpur. While The Butcher’s Table specializes in mouth-watering porcine dishes, they also serve a variety of delicious beef, chicken and lamb dishes.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to try five marvellous dishes from the menu. Kicking things is the pancetta (RM17/slice). A generously sliced of Italian-style pork bacon. Seasoned to suit the tastebuds of local pork lovers, the pancetta was not overly salted and retained its natural pork flavours. If you are a fan of chewy bacon, this is the dish for you! With a slight chewiness in texture, the pancetta is also not overly dry.

Next up is the Nürnberger Sausage with honey mustard sauce (RM26). The sausages served here are all produced in-house, using natural casings and is nitrate and filler-free. The Nürnberger Sausage is a mixture of porky goodness and sauteed onions thus packing it with quite a punch of flavours. Dipping it with the honey mustard sausage does help to balance the saltiness while adding a little sweetness to each bite.

The highlight for us would be the Tomapork (RM 88.00). The tomapork is a 3-in-1 cut savoury pork (Rib, the loin and belly) which is a rare encounter. Weighing approximately 700-gram, the tomapork is also house-cured to perfection and tailored to the local tastebuds. The layer of juicy fats melts away in your melt as you chow down on the juicy and succulent loin meat. Optional is their secret bacon cream sauce which can be paired with fries (made with imported potatoes from US) or the tomapork itself. The tomapork also comes a serving of refreshing coleslaw that has been topped with tinge of lemon.

Pork aside, we also tried their signature tender and juicy salted beef brisket. Made with imported beef from Australia, these slices were so tender, they immediately fell off the fork. The slight fat marbling adds buttery texture which makes this dish all the more rich. To balance its richness is a serving of mustard sauce and sauerkraut.

Looking for something with more of a local twist? The Butcher Table has you covered with their own twist of local popular Crispy Pork - Siew Yuk (RM17). Crispy on the skin and juicy on the meat. Perfectly roasted that the fat just melts in your mouth. Paired with their version of tangy chilli dip.

If you enjoy cooking, you may also buy uncooked cured pork produce from here. Be sure to consult them on how to best prep the pork produce bought from their store too!

More than a place to dine, The Butcher’s Table Pavilion, is a great place to gather with friends over good food and drinks. The Butcher’s Table also serves ice-cold beers (RM 11/mug) and house wine (RM12/glass) at affordable prices. After all, most dishes here are best shared amongst friend for a jolly good time. Now, who will you be inviting for your next drinking session?
