Still Waters Restaurant at Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur is definitely a contemporary restaurant for those who looking for an authentic Japanese cuisine.

Located in the middle of KL city, it is a great Japanese dining spot with delectable and affordable price.

Chef Zainurin bin Mohd Salleh with over 30 years of culinary experience was Introducing 3 signature dishes, and we are lucky enough to taste all of it.

We kick start our meal with the chef recommended dish - Beef Sirloin Steak. The pan-fried beef sirloin cut into piece and serve on top of the rocket salad together with the shitake mushroom. The beef was lean, juicy and moderately tender. I personally prefer beef to come with a little fat. The meat’s mixture of fat and umami, spiced up with the unsalted butter and Japanese BBQ sauces are perfectly match. I just can’t forget the texture of the meat, perfectly-cook and it melt in my mouth, which is nearly impossible to describe!

It was glad that we had the opportunity to try another signature dish, the Dragon Roll. The King prawn tempura rolled with nori and topped with fresh salmon. The roll is all tied together with a light Japanese tobiko and Japanese mayonnaise taste amazing. It did not fail to showcase the freshness of the ingredients (especially the salmon). The most important thing about the roll is not eating it primarily for the taste, but for the texture of the combination.

Last but not least, the Hotate Mentai Mayo Yaki is one of the must try dish in Still Waters. Grilled Hokkaido scallop with fresh mushroom and topped with mentai mayo sauces. It was familiar of Hotate served with mentai mayo. However I believe the amount of the mentai mayo was equally paired with the size of scallops, the taste was surprisingly superb!

There are other signature dishes introduced by Chef Zainurin. The dishes are Salmon Sashimi, Sashimi Moriawase, Sushi Yaki Zakana, Tempura Set and Yaki Zakana Set.

After the wonderful dinner which totally exceed our expectation, we decided to come back next round to try their buffet lunch next round, which only available on Saturday with RM78++ per pax.
